Frequently asked questions
How much does the ProTee VX cost, and is there a subscription?
The ProTee VX is $6,500 at Gungho Golf, with no annual subscription. It includes a lifetime license to ProTee Labs, ProTee's software for practice, shot data, video replay, dispersion, and bag mapping. To play full virtual courses, you add simulator software such as GSPro, sold separately. Using E6 Connect also requires ProTee's 3rd Party Software Connector, a one time purchase.
What ceiling height does the ProTee VX need?
The ProTee VX needs a minimum ceiling height of 9 feet, measured from the hitting surface to the ceiling, and 10 feet is optimal. The unit mounts in front of the hitting area, not directly above you. At a 9 foot ceiling, center it 3'4" in front of the center of your hitting area. At a 10 foot ceiling, center it 3'7" in front.
Do I need club stickers or special golf balls with the ProTee VX?
No. The ProTee VX measures ball and club data with no club stickers and no marked golf balls. It uses dual high speed cameras and A.I. to recognize the club and ball on every shot. A standard ball with a clear logo gives the most consistent spin readings.
What simulator software works with the ProTee VX?
The ProTee VX comes with ProTee Labs for practice and data. For course play, it works with GSPro, E6 Connect, TGC 2019, ProTee Play, and CreativeGolf 3D, each sold separately. E6 Connect also requires ProTee's 3rd Party Software Connector, a one time purchase.
What computer do I need for the ProTee VX? Does it work with a Mac or iPad?
The ProTee VX runs on Windows only. It does not work with Mac, iPad, or Android. The minimum is Windows 10 with an Intel i7 and 8 GB RAM. For simulator gaming, ProTee recommends Windows 10 or 11 (64 bit), an Intel Core i9 or AMD Ryzen 9, 16 GB RAM, and an Nvidia RTX 3080 or Radeon RX 6800XT graphics card.
Does the ProTee VX need special lighting?
No. The ProTee VX reads in the infrared spectrum and can measure in total darkness, so normal room lighting, spotlights, and track lights do not affect it. The only thing to avoid is bright light, such as sunlight from a window, shining directly into the cameras or onto the hitting area.
Does the ProTee VX track putting?
Yes. The ProTee VX reads putts, and ProTee Labs includes putting analysis. For the most consistent putting reads, keep bright white or reflective items, such as a shiny putter head or white shoes, out of the hitting zone. Some owners put a strip of matte black tape on a bright putter head.

How fast does the ProTee VX ship from Gungho Golf?
Gungho Golf keeps the ProTee VX in stock and ships it from Austin, Texas, typically within 2 to 3 business days, with free shipping.
Can I use the ProTee VX with a ceiling lower than 9 feet?
Possibly, down to about 8'8". In ProTee's own testing, the ProTee VX worked without issues at an 8'8" ceiling, and ProTee has not received negative feedback from users at that height. At 8'4", ProTee does not recommend it, because of possible detection issues and a small chance of hitting the unit on an upward wedge swing. Send us your exact ceiling height and we will tell you if it will work.
Can I mount the ProTee VX on a ceiling higher than 10 feet?
Yes, but the ProTee VX must always hang between 9 and 10 feet from the floor. For higher ceilings, use a drop down extension column with ceiling adapter plates. For example, a 12 foot ceiling needs a 2 foot extension column to position the VX at 10 feet.
Does the ProTee VX work for left handed golfers?
Yes. The ProTee VX automatically detects right and left handed players with no recalibration or moving the unit, so both can share the same bay.
What data does the ProTee VX measure?
The ProTee VX measures ball speed, total spin, back spin, side spin, spin axis, launch angle, and launch direction. It also measures club data, including club speed, club path, face angle, face to path, attack angle, dynamic loft, lie angle, and vertical and horizontal impact point, plus carry, total distance, apex height, and descent angle.
How big is the ProTee VX hitting area?
The ProTee VX hitting area is configurable, up to a maximum of 25" long by 21" wide.
How fast does the ProTee VX show shot data?
The ProTee VX processes each shot in under 0.3 seconds, so ball flight and data appear almost instantly.
What comes in the box with the ProTee VX?
The ProTee VX includes the launch monitor, a black stainless steel mounting plate, mounting screws and plugs, a camera calibration plate, a 32 foot Cat6 network cable, a USB to Ethernet adapter, and a power cord. When you buy from Gungho Golf, two swing cameras are also included.
How hard is the ProTee VX to install?
The ProTee VX is a straightforward install. ProTee recommends two people to lift and mount the unit. Mounting at least some screws into a ceiling joist is a good idea. Calibration uses the included calibration plate and takes only minutes. Sloped ceilings need a level mounting solution.
What do I need to set up before my ProTee VX arrives?
The ProTee VX needs an activation code from ProTee support to run, and ProTee's support team is based in the Netherlands. Request activation ahead of your install day, especially if you plan to install on a weekend, so you are not waiting on support hours.
What power and cables does the ProTee VX need?
The ProTee VX plugs into a standard outlet and uses about 100 watts in operation, with a peak of about 600 watts. It connects to your PC with the included 32 foot Ethernet cable and USB to Ethernet adapter, so plan your cable route from the ceiling to your computer.
How far does the ProTee VX need to be from the impact screen?
The ProTee VX has no required distance to the impact screen. It reads the ball and club in the space between the hitting mat and the unit, so screen distance is based on your room and comfort, not the launch monitor.
Will my projector interfere with the ProTee VX?
In most setups, no. Owners run projectors mounted behind the ProTee VX without issues. Avoid projector light or other bright lights shining directly into the VX cameras.
How does the ProTee VX compare to the Uneekor EYE XO2?
Both the ProTee VX and the Uneekor EYE XO2 are ceiling mounted camera launch monitors that work for right and left handed golfers. The biggest difference is club data. The ProTee VX measures club data with no stickers, while the Uneekor EYE XO2 requires club stickers for club data. The VX is Windows only.
What is the ProTee VX warranty?
The ProTee VX comes with ProTee's one year limited warranty against defects in materials and workmanship. When you buy from Gungho Golf, you also get our troubleshooting support for the life of your unit.
Do you price match the ProTee VX?
Yes. If you find a lower price on an identical ProTee VX from a competitor, let us know and Gungho Golf will match it. Sales tax may be charged on top of a price match in certain states.
Does Gungho Golf install the ProTee VX?
Yes. Gungho Golf offers residential and commercial simulator installation, including the ProTee VX, screen, enclosure, projector, and hitting area. Contact us at (512) 222 2220 to confirm availability in your area.
